Update

I have had another critique concerning my new pieces of animation. My improved pieces are going in the right direction, but still need alot of work on them. The main problem I am facing is to do with spacing, anticipation, and ease in/ease out. If I can improve on these problems, my animation should get better, and I can move onto other scenes.

Progress so far

I am two weeks into production of my Sting, and I have reached a set back. The animation work I have created so far is not up to scratch, and must be altered, or started again. After a tutorial, it was clear what I had created so far was not of a good standard, and even ignored basic animation techniques such as The 12 Principles of Animation. The main problem that I had created for myself was that I was trying to follow the poses i had created within the animatic too much, whereas for full animation I needed to add more dynamic actions. From this tutorial I have seen where I have gone wrong and what needed to change.

From the mistakes I have made with these initial pieces, hopefully i will be able to progress further without the same problems as before.

NSS Sting Brief

Through this blog I will chart my course through the production of a sting; a short piece of advertisement. The sting will have to advertise the National Student Survey, and be branded towards the University of Lincoln. I shall be supervising a small group who will be working towards the completion of a sting based on my idea. The idea for the Sting started out as a storyboard, which was then turned into a moving animatic.

Within the brief, it stated that the sting must be no longer than 20 seconds, whereas my storyboards would create a piece was was much longer. I altered my Storyboards, and created an animatic using the new ideas.

From this animatic, my Sting was chosen to go into production. The time scale for the project was only 8 weeks, so each aspect of production had to be thought out before hand, so problems did not occur further down the line. I created a week by week plan to keep track on production.

I shall post my progress to the Sting as production goes ahead.
